As much as I like my Thinkpad X40 [thinkpadx40issues, thinkpadlenovoupdates, thinkpadreference, thinkpadx40] laptop (from IBM, not Lenovo), the quality just doesn't seem as good as my old Thinkpad X24. As I find various issues with the X40 that I don't like, I'll add them to the list below.
If I press the undock button, wait for the Safe to Unlock message, undock the laptop from the docking pad, and immediately close the lid, the machine locks up (and stays on, with black screen).
If you press 3 keys at once, the PC speaker beeps loudly (press I, J, and K at the same time, for example). This beeping cannot be disabled, which really sucks for sloppy typers like me. Luckily, the "mute" button disables both the digital audio and the PC speaker.
