I bought a Samsung HL-R4667W HDTV last week. This is my first experience with a DLP set. The picture quality is nearly perfect - actually, too perfect in some cases. Here are my first impressions:
Like:
Absolute perfect picture geometry, overscan, and convergence
Visible dithering in darker scenes (from HD and DVD component sources)
Visible banding (or "false contouring") on some sources
Black is actually very dark gray
The stand is 4 inches deeper than the set
Don't Care:
Rainbow Effect - I can see it in high-contrast situations, but it doesn't bother me much.
Headaches - Some people have complained about headaches after watching DLPs, and I noticed this the first day I got the set. Luckily, I haven't noticed it since then.
If I can cure the dithering and banding with some calibration, this set is a keeper. If not, it's heading back to Best Buy.
